Glass Apple Strain — Award-Winning Sativa Hybrid, Reviewed
Glass Apple
Smells like a freshly cut Granny Smith. Won Best Hybrid at the 2013 Rooster Classic. One of the few strains where the name is a straight description of the jar.
The short version
Green apple on the nose, clean sativa-leaning lift, no couch. This is the daytime option in our line-up and the one to reach for if heavy indicas put you to sleep before you meant to go. $80, in stock.
Where it came from
Glass Apple is an award-winning strain bred by The Dandelion Co. out of Boulder, Colorado. It crosses Pineapple Express with Glass Slipper, and it took Best Hybrid at the 2013 Rooster Classic.
Awards in cannabis are worth what they’re worth, but a Best Hybrid win means judges rated it against the whole category rather than just the sativas — which fits, because Glass Apple is genuinely balanced despite leaning sativa.
We stock the Pineapple Express parent too, as prerolls, if you want to taste where the fruit comes from.
What it looks like
Medium buds, slightly gooey to the touch, with a decent frost on them. It’s not the most photogenic flower we carry — the appeal here is entirely in the nose and the effect.
How it smells and tastes
The Granny Smith note is the headline and it’s genuinely distinctive. Underneath it there’s the tropical sweetness Pineapple Express is known for, which keeps the tartness from being one-note.
What it actually does
Well-rounded sativa-dominant effects — the lift arrives without the edge that some pure sativas bring, and it doesn’t tip into body-heavy territory the way our indicas do.
This is a functional strain. Use it before things rather than after them.
Who should skip it
If you’re smoking for sleep or pain relief, this is the wrong end of the shelf — Death Bubba or Pink Tuna will serve you far better. And if sativas make you anxious, the lift here is clean but it is still a lift.

Questions people actually ask
Is Glass Apple indica or sativa?
Sativa-dominant hybrid. It gives a clean head lift with far less body weight than our indicas, which makes it a genuine daytime option.
What are Glass Apple’s genetics?
Pineapple Express crossed with Glass Slipper, bred by The Dandelion Co. in Boulder, Colorado. It won Best Hybrid at the 2013 Rooster Classic.
Does it really smell like apples?
Yes — freshly cut Granny Smith, sharp and green. It is one of the more literal strain names out there, with tropical sweetness underneath from the Pineapple Express side.
Will it make me sleepy?
Unlikely. Glass Apple leans sativa and stays functional. If you want sedation, look at Death Bubba or Pink Tuna instead.
How fast does it ship?
Canada Post tracked shipping takes 2–3 business days, Express is $25, and UPS/Purolator (1–3 business days to major cities) is $40. Free over $120, vacuum-sealed in a plain unmarked mailer.
