Buy Weed Online in Quebec
Quebec has the strictest cannabis rules in Canada — the highest legal age, no home growing, and a single government retailer. Here is what actually applies where you live.
The rules in Quebec
Cannabis is federally legal across Canada, but Quebec has used its provincial powers more aggressively than any other jurisdiction. On three separate points, the rule here is not the rule anywhere else.
You have to be 21
Quebec raised its minimum age from 18 to 21 in 2020, and it remains the highest in the country. Most of Canada is 19; Alberta is 18. That is a three-year gap between Quebec and its nearest neighbour by age, and a full three years above the federal minimum of 18.
You cannot grow cannabis at home
The federal Cannabis Act permits four plants per household, but Quebec prohibits home cultivation entirely. The ban was challenged as unconstitutional and the Supreme Court of Canada upheld it in 2023 in Murray-Hall v Quebec, confirming the province was within its rights. Quebec and Manitoba are the only two places in Canada where growing your own is not an option.
You can carry 30 grams — but where matters
The 30 gram public possession limit is federal and applies here as everywhere. Where Quebec differs is consumption: cannabis is banned anywhere tobacco smoking is banned, plus additional locations, and municipalities are free to prohibit it in public entirely — several have. In practice, a private residence is the only place you can rely on.
One legal retailer, by design
Quebec runs a government monopoly through the SQDC. There is no private cannabis retail in this province and no licensed private storefronts, which is the opposite of Alberta’s several hundred independent shops. Quebec also restricts which product types may be sold at all, including limits on edibles that might appeal to minors.

Questions Quebec customers ask
What is the legal age to buy cannabis in Quebec?
21 — the highest in Canada. Quebec raised it from 18 in 2020. Every other province and territory is 19, apart from Alberta at 18.
Can I grow cannabis at home in Quebec?
No. Quebec prohibits home cultivation entirely, despite the federal Cannabis Act allowing four plants per household. The ban was challenged and upheld by the Supreme Court of Canada in 2023 in Murray-Hall v Quebec. Quebec and Manitoba are the only two places in Canada where home growing is banned.
Why is Quebec different from the rest of Canada?
Legalisation is federal, but provinces control retail, age and consumption. Quebec used those powers more restrictively than anywhere else: age 21, no home growing, a single government retailer, and restrictions on which products can be sold at all.
How much can I carry in public?
30 grams of dried cannabis or the equivalent. That limit is federal and the same across Canada. Where you may consume it is much more restricted in Quebec than elsewhere, and municipalities can prohibit public use entirely.
How long does shipping to Quebec take?
Expedited is 3–7 business days with tracking. Montreal, Quebec City and Gatineau typically land at the fast end; Saguenay, the North Shore and remote regions should expect the upper end, especially in winter.
Do you ship to Montreal and Quebec City?
Yes — along with Laval, Longueuil, Gatineau, Sherbrooke, Trois-Rivières, Saguenay and every other Quebec address Canada Post serves, including rural routes.
What payment methods do you accept?
Interac e-Transfer only. We do not accept credit or debit cards, which also means no card details are ever entered on this site or stored by us.
