Is Black Tuna indica or sativa?

Indica-dominant. You will find it listed as a balanced hybrid elsewhere, because the genetics are genuinely mixed — but the effect is not balanced. It is a heavy body strain that finishes in drowsiness, and our current AAAA batch tests at 32–34% THC. Experienced consumers only. From $50.

A Canadian strain, properly

Black Tuna was bred in British Columbia by 5 Star Organic, crossing Herijuana with Lamb’s Bread.

That pairing explains the character. Herijuana is a notoriously sedating indica with a reputation for narcotic heaviness. Lamb’s Bread is a Jamaican sativa — bright, energetic, famously Bob Marley’s strain of choice. On paper that should produce something balanced. In practice the Herijuana wins, and what survives of the Lamb’s Bread is a clear-headed quality at the start rather than any real lift.

It is worth saying plainly that this is a BC strain that earned its reputation domestically before anyone abroad noticed. Canada exports very few cultivars. This is one.

Herijuana brings the weight. Lamb’s Bread brings just enough clarity to notice it arriving.

How strong is it?

Most published sources put Black Tuna at 19–23% THC, with some reporting up to 28%.

Our current AAAA batch tests at 32–34%, which is above the published range and reflects selected top-grade flower rather than the strain average. Whichever number you work from, this is not a beginner’s strain, and the higher figure deserves genuine respect — start with noticeably less than you would with an 18–20% flower.

How it smells and looks

Dense, medium-to-large buds, heavily frosted and sticky enough to be awkward to break up by hand. The resin coverage is the first thing most people comment on.

EarthyPungentSkunkySweetWoodyHerbal

The nose is heavy and pungent rather than fruity — more old-school than dessert. If you have been smoking newer Cookies and Gelato descendants, this smells like a different era of cannabis, because it is.

What it actually does

Body relaxVery high
SedatingHigh
AppetiteHigh
Cerebral calmMedium
EnergisingVery low

A calming cerebral haze arrives first and takes mental tension with it. Then the body high lands — heavy-limbed, deeply relaxing, and at any real dose likely to end in couch-lock followed by sleep.

This is an evening strain and not a negotiable one. Plan nothing after it.

What people use it for

Reported most often for pain, nausea, appetite loss and low mood — the usual profile for a high-THC sedating indica. The heaviness that makes it unsuitable for daytime use is the same quality people seek it out for at night.

User reports and not medical claims. Talk to a doctor if you are treating something.

Who should probably skip it

Anyone new to cannabis, and anyone who needs to function afterwards. At 32–34% this batch is among the strongest flower we carry, and the sedation is not subtle. If you want a heavy indica at a gentler percentage, Pine Tar Kush sits at 16–22% and gets you to a similar place more slowly.

Questions people actually ask

Is Black Tuna indica or sativa?

Indica-dominant. Some databases classify it as a balanced hybrid because the genetics are Herijuana crossed with Lamb’s Bread, a Jamaican sativa — but the sedating Herijuana side dominates the actual effect.

What are the genetics of Black Tuna?

Herijuana crossed with Lamb’s Bread, bred in British Columbia by 5 Star Organic. Herijuana supplies the narcotic heaviness; Lamb’s Bread contributes a brief clear-headed quality at the onset.

How much THC does Black Tuna have?

Published sources generally say 19–23%, with some reporting up to 28%. Our current AAAA batch tests at 32–34%, which reflects selected top-grade flower rather than the strain average.

Is Black Tuna good for sleep?

It is one of the most sedating strains we carry. The body effect ends in couch-lock and usually sleep. It is an evening strain with no realistic daytime use.

Is it a Canadian strain?

Yes — bred in British Columbia. Canada exports relatively few cultivars that gain recognition abroad, and Black Tuna is one of them.

What does it taste like?

Earthy, pungent and skunky with a woody sweetness underneath. Heavier and more old-school than the dessert strains that dominate the current market.

How fast will it arrive?

Canada Post tracked shipping takes 2–3 business days, Express is $25, and UPS/Purolator (1–3 business days to major cities) is $40. Free shipping over $120. Everything ships vacuum-sealed in a plain, unmarked mailer.
